[FIRST AND FOREMOST, SPIT THE CHEWING GUM IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO ALREADY]

Client Brief

(1) Do what you are asked for

(2) Make sure you understood what you were asked for

(2.1) Make sure you are not providing perceived further solutions to seemingly requested, but not  stated needs. Never agree to the non-obvious, always state the obvious.

(3) Proceed accordingly, making sure you have understood the Brief (aka God)

[WHY MIGHT YOU WANT TO FEAR YOUR CLIENT?]

(1) The delivery of a Project, is a two way conversation, in which you give, take back, perform, and reform.

(2) This mimics the dynamic of any University Architecture Studio, but with a slight difference; the client has the final say, and is much more direct in his requests. The talk is not conceptual anymore, but about specific items that need to be delivered.

(3) For this reason production is no about making it to the deadline, but being prepared with material that is admittedly processual.

(4) Communication with the Client is vital, and by all means needs to be free-flow, free-glow. And by this I mean that you need to be concise and precise.

[PHYSICAL IS ALWAYS MORE ATTRACTIVE]

(1) The Client always hopes to get physical, hes hoping to have a solution now, to fix the hinge of the door with a bitta' oil, and he hopes it to work. You should then be prepared.

[TWO IS MULTITUDE, ONE IS SOLITUDE]

(1) We live in a apparently hyper-connected society, here in the developed World. You need to be able to deliver both in physical and digital, and they both need to respond to the necessities of the corresponding mediums.

(2) Therefore, no one wants to be alone, or be seen alone, if you Boss is going to talk to you he is seeking a conversation, you need to be full of options. We have entered a Milieu of choice.

[LEAVE THE ROOM ELEGANTLY]

(1) The client needs to feel that you have been a problem solver, or a good catch up. You need to make sure he is wanting to see you again, and best if its soon.

(2) The performative role of presenting work (immaterial labor) is as important as the food on the plate. Make sure that your moves are exuberant if you are being filmed (they want a show), and that your material speaks this very same language (here is where you are up for examination in terms of conceptualisation/realisation/documentation/presentation)

(3) A cheerful see ya' soon! always helps.
